HtbaS – Episode 84

I talk about Saturday Sampler blocks, making a scrappy baby quilt, and give a short review of the Easy Angle Ruler (here’s a tutorial on how to use it).

  1. Just sharing an idea you and/or your friends might like. Heard about it yesterday at lunch. A friend made pillowcases for the kids for holidays. They have special cases for each holiday and the kids love them! Would be easy for you after making all those pillowcases last Thanksgiving. Love ya!

    1. Beat you to it! Boxer and Bloomer have Christmas pillow cases and special birthday pillowcases, too. Haven’t done any for me & Brief yet, though…

    2. Great! In your “spare” time you can do Valentine’s, St. Patrick’s, Easter, Flags, Halloween, Thanksgiving . . . . 🙂

  2. Hi Pam,

Thanks for mentioning me; I am waiting for my SIL to approve the colors before I call Tiny Stitches about the Saturday Sampler.

I love the “Grandma” idea for the quilts. I do some genealogy and enjoy tracing the ladies back; the furthest back I can get for my “mothers” line is the late 1780’s in Alsace-Lorraine. Lots of them had the same names, but can be split out with different married or middle names as well as birth and death dates.

    All the best.

  3. Hi Pam,
I totally agree with the minke backing comments. I did my daughter’s quilt (not sure of the size but fits across the top of a double bed without any hanging over)that was pieced and appliqued on top, batting in the middle, and then minke. Quite heavy, but slid ever so nicely over the machine bed and table. Other than getting my tension right (not totally successful with that), it was a breeze.
