Q4 Finish Along Goals

With an eye to the future, here’s my goals for the Q4 portion of the Finish-Along, organized by Rhonda at Quilter in the Gap.

  • Grandma’s Garden quilt – Needs quilting and binding
Grandma's Garden - Block 11
  • Star Wars: Return of the Quilt – The final quilt (for me!) is cut, and needs piecing, quilting, and binding
Star Wars Quilts - First Cutting
  • Memories of Provence – Will get last block on 12/1. The rest of the top is in two large pieces waiting for the last row of it in order to finish the top.
Memories of Provence - Block 4
  • Terrain HSTs Buffalo Bits Tablerunner – the little HSTs I trimmed off after sewing the points for the Hunter’s Star blocks for the big quilt have been sitting for almost a year! I want to sew them into a little quilt to put on the cedar chest in my bedroom.
Charming Stars blocks

I have other projects to finish, but since they are Christmas gifts I’m keeping them under wraps so I can’t include them here since I don’t want to post pictures.

  1. I’m sure you are getting tons of suggestions about how to introduce Fred to the kittens. Can you stand one more opinion?

Fred might be able to more easily handle one kitten at a time than all 3 at once. If I were going to try this, I’d have a kong stuffed with yummy dog treats and peanutbutter to give to Fred when I let the kitten out. That way he would associate kitten time with something fun. This obviously won’t work if your dog isn’t food-motivated.

If you take Fred on a long walks to tire him out, he might handle the kittens better. Also, Fred could probably benefit from some basic obedience. Teaching Fred to watch you might help him ignore the kitties.’Leave it’ is another command that would be useful. Best of luck with the introductions. I’m rooting for Fred!

  2. I love your goals Pam and looking forward to the finished projects! 🙂 The star quilt idea is fantastic! That plain white fabric looks fabulous against the Kate Spain squares.
The memories of Provence fabrics are beautiful, I totally adore the one in the middle. It looks like a medallion quilt 🙂
Good luck with the finishes I’m sure You’ll make a lot more things before the year is over.
