Sugar & Orange Spice – Finished!

I finished the Sugar & Orange Spice quilt this week! It measures 43 x 43″ and was completely pieced as leaders & enders while sewing other projects.

It’s straight line quilted on the diagonal, and was made completely from my scraps.  The pattern actually called for using the background fabric for the setting triangles that put the 4-patches on point, and in retrospect that would have looked better. I had a lot of 5″ yellow squares, though, so I opted to use those instead.

The back is a yellow piece with small fish on it with a piece of bright orange set in.  The binding is scrappy, too, made from 2 1/2″ strips from the scrap bins, too.

It’s going to be auctioned off to help a family pay some medical bills.

  1. Ooh, pretty! And what a good cause to donate it to. I do think you should make a small version of it again as a cat nap mat for Ms Nina, though 😉 I have a question, too – what exactly is the point of leaders and enders? This is something I have not yet really understood…
