HtbaS – Episode 128

Another short and sweet episode this week as I’m making steady progress on the Signature quilt.  I give two book reviews and two recipe reviews.

  1. I had to giggle when you said something toward the end about wrapping it up so as to avoid ranting more about work. There you have in a nutshell the very reason I didn’t podcast for the last 7 months. Now that I am no longer working and not at a risk of having diarrhea of the mouth, I am good to return.

It’s good to be back in the swing!

  2. I understand what you were talking about when mystery series don’t let their characters grow or learn from their experiences. One of the best at giving her characters freedom to evolve is Dana Stabenow. She has two series set in Alaska. The Kate Shugak series starts with “Cold Day for Murder,” while the Liam Campbell series starts with “Fire and Ice.” Both were free on iTunes last time I looked.

    All the best.

  3. I’m catching up on podcasts, so I don’t know if you mentioned checking things off lists in this episode or the last one. If it’s that important, though, and you’re working on something big (like the signature quilt), why not break the big steps down into smaller ones: sew half the rows together, quilt 25%, etc.? just a thought!
Thanks for the work you do on the podcast, I really enjoy listening.

  4. Laughing at your goldfish story! I too, had a fish that lived FOREVER. After becoming bored with fresh water fish, I decided to start up a salt water tank, and my first purchase was a little Tomato Clownfish, appropriately named Early Girl. She lived to the ripe old age of 14, which was amazing, considering that I had many fish who did not live past the initial 48 hour period.

Thanks for the get well shout out. I am doing much better, but it is still slow going. At 3 months, I still cannot lift my arm above my head, unless I am lying on a table and a physical therapist is standing on my arm. Frustrating! At least I am driving and sewing, in small doses, and I am getting really close to being able to style the back of my hair. Yay me!
