HtbaS – Episode 137

This week I catch up on blocks, charity quilts, and near the finish line on Scrappy Swoon Redux. I also talk about two movies and two books I’ve finished.

Jett is contemplating life.

Beam me up, Scotty. We’re all done here!

  1. I’m not sure I’m actually responding to the right episode since I listened yesterday, but I think it was this one, anyway 🙂

Improvisational piecing makes me twitchy, too. I haven’t done tons of it but the sampler I’ve been working my way through had several improvisational/wonky blocks. The one where we were supposed to just make crazy random fabric out of scraps (and then cut that up to make a traditionally-pieced block) just about gave me hives, as did the crazy quilt square, even though it seemed like everyone else in the quilt-along thought those two were really fun. I have incredibly bad spatial skills and that doesn’t combine well with improvising, I think. I did really like my wonky square-in-square block once I got it done even though I didn’t really enjoy the process, but the one wonky star I did looked sort of unintentionally wonky.

  2. Pam, I commented a few weeks back about Dana S book #9 and you didnt post it because it could have been a spoiler. since you mentioned her again and the way some characters in books never grow, mature, develop, it made me think you might enjoy 2 character-driven mystery series that I particularly enjoy. they are the Duncan Kincaid/Gemma James series by Deborah Crombie and the Lynley mysteries by Elizabeth George. let me know if you would like more info about either.
