WIP Wednesday: Clusterflake 2014

Well, hello from the frozen tundra of the South. We are in the midst of my favorite-name for a storm ever: Clusterflake 2014; it’s a two-wave wintry mix of ice/sleet/snow/penguins that apparently is going to bring the South to a grinding halt to a degree that we haven’t seen since the last storm two weeks ago.

Since I work from home, I’m expected to keep on working despite the intervention of 1 husband, 2 children, 3 cats, and 1 dog who are all home with me today (my workflow is already adjusted to account for 3 cats).

Disappearing 4 patchYay.

Or, rather, yay?

Perhaps the power will go out and I’ll get a day off to do some English Paper Piecing.

Anywho, I’ve been working on a couple things I can’t show yet, but here is the top from the disappearing four-patches I’ve been working on. I’ve got the back pieced using even more leftover bits and the whole thing is ready to sandwich and quilt this week.  Still not sure of the recipient yet, but it’ll go into the “consideration for donation” pile and get this Quilt Monkey off my back!

Disappearing 4 patchOf course I took out the camera and this handsome boy showed up.  He turned two this week, so he is clearly taking advantage of being a serious grown-up type cat now.

  1. Your handsome boy could be the male doppleganger for my Violet. (Same mustache even.) I hope you keep power! Thankfully, we got both our class play performances (one of which was SUPPOSED to be today) done yesterday. Phew. I have to move my sewing machine to a distant corner from the warmest spot in house because the hubs is telecommuting. May resort to EPP, too, just to stay in the warm spot. Good luck!

  2. I’ve been thinking of you as I heard about this storm approaching the South. I am also a WAHM and feel your pain. We haven’t had a week without at least one delay or day off since around thanksgiving! Snow is predicted tomorrow so this week may follow suit, just in time for school to be closed on Presidents Day. Sigh.

  3. Good to hear you got a quilt monkey off your back. Satisfying. I finished a project from 2007 this week too. I love that your UFOs are maybe a year old if we really push it. I have been working along with several projects and it is satisfying to have made progress

No snow here (surprised yet?) No Cyclones either. Bushfires down south (in Victoria and NSW) and droughts our in Western Qld and NSW but here in Central Qld (Qld stands for Queensland) we have had a bit of rain although more would be nice. Hasn’t bee too hot either which is sweet but today is predicted to get warmer. Hope you are frozen into a solid lump yet
