Sunday Stash - Unfinished Business

Blammo! Not a single sewn thing officially finished this week. I can live with that, especially since I did get sewing done, but not yet finished.  Here are this month’s Saturday Sampler blocks from Tiny Stitches:

Mum Medallion - Block 5  Saturday Soiree- Block 12
This is the last month for Saturday Soiree, the blue and white quilt.  I’ve got my sashing and setting kits sewn up for this quilt, so I’ll work on putting the top together at my guild’s day retreat next Saturday. It’ll end up being a big old mamma-jamma queen/generous full size and will go on my daughter’s bed since blue is her favorite color.

I also took some time to do a fundraiser for Good Mews and went to a “paint your pet” night at a local painting place called Canvas by U.  Here’s the original photo of Nina I worked from (the ladies at the store did a pencil sketch on canvas to start us off), and here’s the resulting painting:

  1. I love the blocks. I don’t remember seeing Saturday Soiree before, though I am sure you have showed it. Nice to have something fresh to look at solely due to lack of memory. 😉

  2. Love the painting of Nina! It’s such a great pose and a nice keepsake. Have the other cats (and dog) asked when they get their likeness on canvas?

  3. I hope to get back to finishing things soon! I need to inventory my unfinished projects. Now that my sewing room is renovated I need to get busy!

  4. That batik block looks stunning! And Nina’s portrait came out really cute! The original photo is like, “Wat did you say, Mom? I didn’t quiet catch that!” :))

  5. I got a finish this week. It was my very dodgey bodgey curtains but I did manage to get them finished and hung in time for visitors. Since I counted the fabric in when I bought it I got to count it out when I finished. I love the painting of Nina - she is so looking at you and checking you out!

  6. I just got caught up on your podcasts ( long story). Thank you so much for keeping me company this morning as I quilted. Your Nina quilt is FANTASTIC! I am so impressed. I just love swoon quilts and the colors you chose are really in line with colors I love most.
