Sunday Stash - Treadmilling

I feel as if I’ve stitched on a lot of projects this week, but didn’t really finish much.  On the actual finish pile, we have 2 travel drawstring shoebags and 2 storage bags for quilts I’m entering into the show this June (assuming they are accepted!).  On the “things I worked on but didn’t finish pile”, we have these things:

Harry Potter POD block 6:

Harry Potter POD block 6Scrapitude Scrap in a Box step 2Scrapitude Scrap-in-a-Box Step 2. Sewn incorrectly, of course, but when I was 60 into 82 finished, I realized my mistake and just plowed forward.  This is in the tradition of Scrapitude quilts-alongs for me since the one last year I inadvertently left off the sashings in my first attempt.

And finally, my One Block Wonder in progress!  I took the class yesterday from Melinda at Tiny Stitches, and made pretty good progress.

I started with 6 panels, which makes finding your repeats pretty easy! I have an extra one for the back of the quilt so I can remember what it looked like.

And here’s how far I got in class - probably about a third of the blocks I’ll end up with in total.

One block wonder

  1. Love the OBW, and what a great idea to use panels! I foolishly bought three panels of the same design a few years ago (must have been under a fabric induced trance), and have since cut one up to put into zipper pouches. I like your idea much better, but I’m not about to go out and seek out four more panels sporting killer whales. Whatevs. As for your Scrapitude tradition, it’s not a mistake, it’s a “design opportunity”. That’s what we all tell ourselves.

  2. Great colors for the OBW. It is amazing seeing the difference from the panels to the quilt top. Looking forward to see what other surprises are joining Elvis and sports ball in Scrapitude 2? It will be interesting how your “design choice” will fit with the final project :-).

  3. All 3 of your projects look good to me. I especially like the Scraptitude and your OBW. That is turning out really well. I made one with 8 panel blocks years ago and surprised everyone with the way it looked - me included. lol Great numbers too.

  4. oh dear re the scrapitude blunder (sorry alternative piecing choice). I had to do some unpicking on mine too because I sewed about 20 of them on the wrong side… can’t remember exactly what but it wasn’t going to work… no alternative piecing choice for me… just wrong and it had to come out!. And I love your POD block. What a cool idea to use that neon fabric in the bottle. It really glows! I’ve started to embroider book titles on the books and it hasn’t entirely worked as I was in a hurry (wanted some hand stitching to do whilst we were away) and my writing wasn’t always nice or even or straight. However I am going to persist with doing it even though it means I have to take the paper off before I sew them together. Might have to reconsider how I do it for the next row. Ho hum. But its fun anyway.

  5. WOW! I am amazed at how the panel morphs into pretty cool One Block Wonder blocks. I never would have thought of that! I like the panel you chose. It is very bright and cheerful.

  6. Your OBW is awesome! Very cool to see the blocks that came from that panel. Hope being away in Vegas isn’t too terrible. I can totally relate. We’ll miss you next week!
