Cancer is a Jerk

The title goes without saying, but we’ve had a more personal experience in my family recently with this particular Jerk (beyond David Bowie and Alan Rickman - oy vey!). As I do in most crises, I focused and made a quilt, possibly while crying and worrying about things I can’t change.

You might be able to tell what sort of cancer it is from the applique on this quilt, but it’s not my medical story to tell. We’re hoping for speedy recovery and short treatment after surgery last week.

Mostly I wanted to work it up quickly, so I pulled in neutrals in white, grey and black and laid them out as a gradient pattern. The applique got added later, and then I FMQed it with a meander in a light pink thread. It’s in its new home, giving the recipient hugs during recovery.

  2. I am so sorry. The quilt is lovely. Praying for a full and speedy recovery. And, I apologize for my petty pity party. There are way more important things in life than muggle reactions. 🙂

  3. Having been on the journey involved, it’s a long seemingly endless process. But we do get thru it. Ruins most of a year, if she does chemo and radiation, then the healing process. But it a year well spent given the alternative. Here’s hoping she caught it early, and wishing her well. Hugs
