So sorry to hear about your family member’s diagnosis. That helpless feeling is one of the worst. I’m sure the quilt is a great comfort, as is knowing that you are there for what she may need.
Glad the storm didn’t materialize into a repeat of two years ago (for both of our sake), and hope you are enjoying the sunshine today. As to be expected in Georgia in January, next weekend is supposed to be sunny with highs near 60. I think we can make it.
I would like to let you know that what you did for your family member is more appreciated than you can know. I too have cancer and for my last major surgery my family needed all the help they could get (they didn’t really know it as they were kind of in shock). Additionally, the quilt my guild made me was like my Linus blanket, I took it with me everywhere and people were always asking about it. It really helped during recovery too which can be a truly awful experience (at least it was for me). All in all I have been truly amazed at all the wonderful people who stepped up with assistance of all kinds. It’s all you can do and it means the world.
As you may know my BIL died last year from cancer (yes, cancer is a jerk). Most of the casseroles and such have ended. The family has stepped up and is still helping out. I ordered the cake for my nephew’s birthday next week. I also attending the school talent show and bringing MIL and taking the nephew to his recital at the end of the month. I think the steaks were a good idea and hope you put a note in your calendar to do it again in 6 months.
Re: the Gyleen mystery quilt. I am not a fan of “just throw everything together and it will work”. Making some design choices, which I do think you did, makes better quilts. I am not sure how many mystery quilts Gyleen has designed, but I think it does take some experience. I think Bonnie Hunter’s idea of using paint chips is a good one. It gives people good ideas about relationships of color to each other. I like the colors you have chosen and agree with someone else who said that the blue anchors it. Someone will like the quilt, even if you don’t
