WIP Wednesday – Just Beachy

Beachwalk QuiltI may or may not be on a beach right now, but I will be shortly! In honor of that, here’s a picture of the Beachwalk quilt I made a couple year ago.

Before getting to the beach, however, I managed to finish the two Saturday Sampler blocks for this month.  We’re coming up on the end for Summertime Blues (only one block left), so I need to start thinking about layout.  I think I want to set it in an alternate sort of layout to make it a bed size quilt and take advantage of the giant digitally printed cat I got from a Moda kit. That will require me to bring in a bit of lime green to match the cat eyes, and maybe some additional blocks to fill out the setting. Mostly I want a bed size quilt to donate to Good Mews for their auction this year since I know those sell better!

  1. Thanks for the reminder of your beachy quilt. It is great! I really like it. Hope you have a great time at the beach and get to relax. Soon your kids will be old enough to go off on their own dancing and partying in the evening. I am sure you are looking forward to that. 😉

  2. I saw your quilt at the Lancaster show. So awesome. Gorgeous in person. I took a selfie but turns out I failed with Selfie 101….my daughter enjoyed my sad attempt though. I did email it to you….thought you could use a laugh.

And thanks for the list of podcasts that you put up a few weeks ago. I found quite a few that I started listening to.

Now for my next question – how do you find out about all the swaps and block-of-the-months and other online opportunities to be a part of the quilting community? Or do they come to you because you are such a celebrity ? I noted the frequent QuiltCon recognition occurrences that you mentioned…..I would have fan-girled big time if I saw you both!

Thanks as always for your great podcast and for The Stitch TV Show…..I look forward to each and they make a hellish commute much more tolerable.

  3. It’s so nice to see this quilt again Pam, it’s one of my favorites. I remember how popular it was back then. Enjoy your well deserved vacation!

  4. This is a beautiful quilt. I enjoy listening to your podcast. I was wondering about when you sew and if now that you are designing patterns if the amount of time sewing has increased? Do you feel as if you have given something else up to sew more? For example, I am watching TV less ( don’t have a tv in my sewing room) to do more sewing.

  5. Hi Pam,

I finished reading the Shades of Magic Series and am into the third book on The Old Man’s War Series. Great reads, thanks for the recommendation. Here are some for you K.M Shea writes young adult adaptations to fairy tales, my favorite so far is the King Arthur series. Also the book The Vagrant by Peter Newman is quite intriguing.
