  1. I have been apologizing for going to see the new Pirates of the Caribbean movie. It isn’t great film, but it is very entertaining and also beautiful. I heard the same sort apology about a book you read. I think we should make a pact to stop apologizing for what we read or see. I think it is ok to not read great literature or see enlightening films all the time. We deserve a break from the seriousness of life.

Dresden Garden is looking great. You should make another one with pinks and aquas. 😉

  2. I was going to comment on the last podcast (and I’m sure I did in my head) that your son, at least, is old enough to do his own laundry. I was happy to hear that you had already jumped to that conclusion for both kids. Learning life skills and doing their part to make the house run better will all be worth it someday – hard now, better later. My older son had several classmates in his freshman year of college that had never learned to do laundry or use a bank account. We subscribed to the “yay, you’re 12, you get to do your own laundry!” club. We also decided that getting them bank accounts with debit cards (and parental controls) was the best way to handle learning to deal with money in the modern world. It also gave us an easy way to give them allowance and for them to be able to spend money online, where they wanted to, while we could monitor it and help keep them safe.
