Grand Illusion Mod Baby Quilt – Finished!

This quilt stretched my quilting process quite a bit, but I’m really happy with how it turned out.

Grand Illusion Mod Baby Quilt

Grand Illusion Mod Baby QuiltThe piecing was relatively simple, from the leftovers of the Grand Illusion quilt (and the very last bits went into placemats!  For the quilting, I was originally thinking of doing a woodgrain pattern, but I ended up doing intentionally wobbly straight(ish) line quilting.  I’ve seen it in other modern quilts, and thought I’d give it a whirl.

Grand Illusion Mod Baby QuiltAdmittedly, it takes a looooong time to do – if I had stippled this, I could have knocked it out in an hour.  Straight line quilting it took about 3 hours.

It’s pretty worth it, though. I’m thinking I might want to replicate it on another quilt.

Of course it has a pieced back, too. Are you sensing a theme yet this week?

  1. It’s great! Did you turn the back to make the binding, or it’s just the same fabric? I love the backing too! And the wobbly lines don’t look too shabby! :)))

  2. I love this quilt. Simple and elegant with a really happy feel to it. The colors are awesome and the white space makes me happy. Not too much and not too little.
