WIP Wednesday – Pressing Matters

This week I got started on the blocks for the #SummerReadingQAL (launch post up on TheStitchTVShow.com next Tuesday, and official kick off on May 24!), and I’ve been writing up tips and such on assembly and fabric choices.

As I was pressing the blocks, it struck me that I haven’t talked about The Strip Stick much, or if I have, I probably forgot the name of it while doing so. I learned about it in a class with Kimberly Einmo, and it’s a great pressing tool for getting super flat seams. I made a quick tip video for The Stitch Instagram feed about using it.

So that’s what I’m working on!

  1. I have one that is blue rubbery plasticy type stuff and I haven’t found it to be useful, though I thought the idea was a good one. I think yours looks like it might be more useful. Does it have beans or sand or something moveable in it?

  2. Pam, thank you for your podcasts! I love them. I discovered the world of podcasts a couple months ago, and then thought, “maybe there are quilting podcasts!” Lo, and behold! There was HtbaS! I love it. So entertaining, and very quilty. (Is that really a word? I think not.) You have accompanied many hours of commuting across the prairie of central Illinois. My question for you: how do you do so much quilting? When do you quilt? Do you actually sleep? I listen to you talk about all the stuff you work on, and then you have a family and a job, and I wonder how you do it all. I spend way more time thinking about quilting than actually quilting. But, seriously, what do your days look like? When do you fit in all your sewing time?
