WIP Wednesday: The Force is With Me

I have been making a conscious effort to practice what I preach and PAM some things in the sewing room.  As Lynn and I hurtle towards our pattern launch on July 16 (at Red Hen Fabrics at Marietta, GA - come by or visit The Stitch website to check them out), we’re also doing legitimate things like register for EIN numbers and other small business things. One note about that:

It’s delightful, is what I’m saying.

But in between business things, I’ve been making progress on quilts! Here is my Bonnie Hunter quilt under the needle, complete with Star Wars fabric on the border.

I put the finishing stitches on the binding for the quilt last night, and moved on to making a class sample Aeroplane bag, since I’m teaching a workshop (!!!!) on it at Red Hen as well. on July 23rd.  More details to come if you’re interested in signing up - we’re working out class times and supply lists and it should be up on their calendar this weekend, I think.  I should wrap up my Aeroplane bag tonight, and then move on to a final sample for one of our 3 patterns being launched. Whew.

Sunday Stash - Black and White and A Little Bit of Red All Over

As expected, another slow week when it comes to the stash (only finished usage was the Tiny Tuffet), but there is progress ahead!  I’ve got my Bonnie Hunter Blue Ridge Beauty class project sandwiched and ready to quilt, and another quilt nearly ready to sandwich. Here’s the completed center for my version of Bonnie’s pattern; there are borders on it now, but it’s still a lap size.

I’ve also got to book it and make another sample from the upcoming pattern line from The Stitch! Very exciting- check it out online or in person at Red Hen Fabrics July 16th to see the first three!

The Stitch - Episode 111 Audio Only

This month, Pam and Lynn open with some chatter about summer vacation, and then dive into the psychology of quilting, designing quilts from scratch, and how collaboration in quilting works. Stay tuned for a very exciting announcement at the end!

This is the audio-only version of the video on YouTube. See show notes, photos, and more available on The Stitch TV Show page!

NOTE: This audio-only version of The Stitch is replacing my usual weekly HtbaS podcast; I’ll be back solo next week for the usual geeky fare!

WIP Wednesday - Tiny Tuffet

Because life has a sense of humor, I came down with a heinous migraine yesterday so am just now getting caught up on work and sewing in advance of my class with Bonnie Hunter tomorrow! I did manage to fit in a small finish, however.

When I was visiting the quilt shop while at my parents’ house, Nancy’s Calico Patch (hi ladies!), I found this kit for a tiny adorable tuffet pin cushion.

The kit, from License To Quilt came with the foam insert, walnut shells, pattern, wood base, and bolts.  I supplied the fabric, button, and cabinet knobs for feet.  I have some very hefty brass knobs from our previous house that I couldn’t let go of for some reason, and now, finally they have a purpose!

The glamorpuss purple sparkly button came from my depths of my soul or something, because heck if I can remember why I would have ever bought such a thing.  Fabric came from a quilt shop visit with Jaye in San Francisco, so the project is chock full of travel memories!

Eat, Sleep, Golf, Repeat - Finished!

This fun wallhanging is a gift for my dad for Father’s Day. I finished it way back in April because that’s how I roll, and it saved postage to mail it with my Mom’s Mother’s Day present.

As you might guess, my dad is a golfer.  When I saw this pattern in the quilt shop I immediately thought of him and knew I had to make it.

The pattern is by Amy Bradley, and I used fusible applique with a blanket stitch to hold it down.

Sunday Stash - A Quarter at a Time

I got home fom travelling last night, so not much to report as usage except for the small travel project I took with me. I compensated for that by buying a fat quarter at a quilt shop near my parents’ house!

I did also pick up my Saturday Sampler blocks for June (slightly off schedule), and those are ready for July turn-in.  On the left is the latest 30’s sampler block, and on the right is the first block in the new program I’m doing called “Summertime Blues”.  I’m partial to the blue one right now, and will use these first 6 30’s blocks to make a donation quilt.

I’m excited to get back into the swing of things for the next month, then I have a short 2 day trip out west again!

HtbaS - Episode 277

It’s the Ask Me Anything episode! I cover everything from the origin of my Pantsfreesia twitter handle, professional wrestling, food and recipes, tattoos, some quilting talk, and what “Pam’ing It” really means.

Here’s the Broccoli Salad recipe I mentioned.

WIP Wednesday: Slackers

Well, this was the scene when I left for my work trip last weekend, and I expect that it has not changed much:

The cats are in hog heaven since Fred the dog is away at Camp Papa for the week and my husband is there, being swarmed nightly by the cats.

I’ve been working on some hand stitching and might finish a wool applique project this week, letting me log a 1/4 yd in the Stash Report!

Sunday Stash - Nada

This week, as expected and due to kitchen flooding, was not terribly productive, and next week won’t be either. Alas.  I did have to buy fabric because I cut a lot of strips for a class I took on Saturday, but then promptly left them on my cutting table rather than actually taking them to the class. Sigh.

HtbaS - Episode 276

This week I open with a bit about mental health, and some highlights from our beach vacation and getting back in the sewing groove (before traveling for work next week).  I also give reviews on a number of books I’ve read in the last few weeks:
